Elizabeth passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, June 19, 2016.

Elizabeth was born in the Whitesand district, a twin daughter, to Nick and Mary Lackmanec. She attended Beblo School, then Sacred Heart Academy in Yorkton. She trained as an LPN, then worked in Langenburg, Melville, Edmonton and Saskatoon. In 1978, she gave up her job to care for her mother on the family farm.

After her diagnosis of MS in 1992, she returned to Saskatoon to live with her sisters, twin sister Cecile, and Lillian, who were her faithful caregivers until her final breath. Elizabeth accepted her illness with very little complaint, even when her pain became very acute.

She enjoyed doing her puzzles, and was an avid Roughrider, Blue Jay and curling fan, watching every game she could. Family gatherings were a joy to her, she always made sure her company had a drink, and enough to eat, even after it was not possible for her to partake of the good food.

Elizabeth was pre-deceased by her parents, her sisters, Kay Panchuck, Ann Neudorf, Pauline Spelay, Olga Lachmanec, Margaret Raina and her brother, John.

She will be sadly missed and always remembered by her sisters and brothers: Donna Glute of Toronto, Mike of Yorkton, Daniel (Vicki) of Calgary, Joe of Springside, Lillian of Saskatoon, Cecile of Saskatoon, Irene (Peter) Kobylka of Yorkton, Adel (Paul) Kovacs of Los Angeles; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to express appreciation to Father Leonid Malkov for his kindness and spiritual support, to Dr. Dyck for her home visits, to the home care nurses Tammy and Kim, to Laurie the Palliative Care Nurse for her guidance, and to all the special caregivers who were involved in her care over the years.

Prayers for Elizabeth will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 10th Street and Munroe Avenue with celebrant Rev. Fr. Leonid Malkov, CSsR. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations in Elizabeth’s name may be made to the SAIL, 3475 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4S 6X6 or MS Society of Canada, 22 – 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.

To share condolences and memories, visit www.parkfuneral.ca "Obituaries".

Arrangements entrusted to Greg Lalach, Park Funeral Chapel, 306.244.2103.
