<div itemprop="description">Hazel Reta Swanson <br>May 29, 1921 – November 10, 2016 <br> <br>We are very sorry to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mrs. Hazel Swanson (nee Smith) of Brightwater at Stonebridge Residence in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Hazel’s passing occurred at St. Paul’s Hospital on Thursday evening, November 10, 2016. She was 95 years of age. <br> <br>Hazel, one of six children, was born to Ronald and Ada (nee Parkes) Smith on May 29, 1921, and grew up on the family farm at Kyle, Saskatchewan. <br> <br>She is survived by two children, Maureen (Ken) Sutherland and Don (Dolly) Swanson; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and by one brother Orville (Ruth) Smith. <br> <br>She was predeceased by her husband Roy Swanson. She is also survived by Roy’s brother Arnold (Edna) Swanson. <br> <br>Hazel was a very loving and compassionate person both in her personal life and her professional life. She was a dedicated registered nurse having graduated in 1943 from the Edmonton Grey Nuns Hospital. Hazel worked as a nurse for many years. She also assisted with the ongoing family business, Apollo Machine & Products. Hazel enjoyed gardening, sewing, and was a wonderful cook of wild game and fish. She enjoyed talking about politics and was an avid lifelong newspaper reader. Her love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unconditional. <br> <br>She received wonderful care at Brightwater at Stonebridge, and at St. Paul’s Hospital. <br> <br>The Memorial Service will be held later in the spring of 2017 with the date to be announced. <br> <br>Memorial donations may be directed to the Saskatchewan Heart and Stroke Foundation. <br> <br>To share memories and condolences, visit www.parkfuneral.ca “Obituaries”.
