<div itemprop="description">Independencia “Penny” Ong (née Masigon)<br><br>Penny Ong passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 7th 2016 at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with cancer. <br><br>Penny will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Kathy Dand (Ryan), Jennifer Ong (Blair Muzzolini), and Shanna Ong (Emma Roy); their father Roman Ong; her beloved grandchildren Alessandro and Nicolena; and her siblings Hermeniano Masigon (Amuerfina), Eumelia Remaneses (Harvey), and O Rigoroso (Herry). Penny is predeceased by parents Procolo and Dionesia Masigon and siblings Januario, Dioscoro and Elenita.<br><br>Penny was a trailblazer, moving to snowy Saskatchewan from her home in the Philippines in 1968 and supporting many others to follow in her footsteps. She lived up to her name – Independencia – in all aspects of her life, from the raising of her children, to her 35+ year career as a registered nurse. We will remember her sparkly giggle, her improved versions of idioms, her green thumb, her fierce love for her family, and the strength of spirit she possessed. <br><br>A celebration of Penny’s life will be held on Sunday, September 11 2016 at 2:00 pm at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon.
