<div itemprop="description">Muriel Ellen Brooks <br>December 17, 1927 – March 7, 2017 <br> <br>Muriel Ellen Brooks (Green) died peacefully at the age of 89. Beloved and gifted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Muriel was kind and loving and lived a full, rich life. <br> <br>Muriel’s joy was her family, and she leaves behind her children Harry Brooks, Marilyn Jutras (Jim), Ken Brooks, Carolyn Brooks (Sean Quinn), her grandchildren Gabe Jutras (Amber), Mickey Jutras (Roz), Danny Jutras (Charis Hogg), Katie Bembridge (Garett), Rob Carey (Melissa Bereti), Ben Carey, Delaney and Declan Quinn, Tommy and Scott Knowles, and her great-grandchildren Maeve, Isla, Addison, Rylee, Bryson, Oscar and Spencer. She is also survived by her siblings Bruce Green, June Menzies and Phyllis Kristjanson, and many treasured nieces and nephews. Muriel enjoyed over fifty years of marriage with Eyrle Brooks who predeceased her in 2001. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Grandpa Hi and Grandma Bill, and her brothers Don and Glen, and several treasured in-laws. <br> <br>Muriel was born in Glen Ewen, Saskatchewan and spent her younger years in Prince Albert. The family moved to Saskatoon where she attended Nutana Collegiate. She was the youngest of six children and enjoyed close relationships with her siblings and their families her entire life. <br> <br>Muriel married Eyrle in 1951 and they settled in Saskatoon where they spent many wonderful years raising their four children. Mom relished this time of her life and thrived on spending time with family. Muriel and Eyrle had many adventures over their 50 years together, including trips overseas, a sabbatical in Europe, summers at Emma Lake, and retirement winters in Hemet, California. Mom had many passions including music, singing and golf and she was still hitting golf balls with her family at 88 years old. <br> <br>Mom had many friends and valued them highly. She was involved in and enjoyed lifelong friendships in the university community, the Riverside Golf Club, Sweet Adelines, and with her neighbours in Saskatoon and the Cheviot farm community. <br> <br>We and her many friends and relatives were blessed by her gentle and caring nature and feel a deep sadness at our loss. <br> <br>The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at St. Martin’s United Church, 2617 Clarence Avenue South with Rev. Michael Webster officiating.
