<div itemprop="description">Orest passed away peacefully away in Calgary with his family at his side, on Saturday, May 28, 2016. <br><br>Orest was born and grew up on a farm in Goodeve, Saskatchewan., and iIn 1954, he left the farm and followed his soon to be wife, Vi, to Saskatoon where he articled as an accountant, his life-long career. In 1994 after 23 years with Inland Steel Orest retired. Orest and Vi were married for 19 years before the arrival of their only child, Jason. As a very proud father, Orest took much joy in spending time with his son and supporting him in all his activities. Orest valued the importance of family and close friends. He was fortunate to have many wonderful relationships that he cherished and enjoyed together with his wife Vi. Orest’s unconditional love for family, especially his grandchildren, will be his legacy and will be carried forward for generations. <br><br> Orest and Vi spent many years camping, golfing, curling, playing cards and having fun with friends and family. Orest loved to travel. They travelled extensively with friends before and after the arrival of their son, including his favourite destination, Hawaii. Through retirement, Orest and Vi spent many winters with friends in Phoenix and the summers at the lake and golfing in the prairies. Orest and Vi always made sure they were home for traditional family gatherings making room for any and all family and friends that were there to partake. <br><br> In 2010, Orest and Vi bought a condo in Calgary to spend more time with their beloved grandchildren. When in Calgary, Orest spent every moment he could with his grandchildren enjoying all of their activities. <br><br>Orest was a strong and active member of the Knights of Columbus - Sheptytsky Council 4938 where he held all executive positions, including spending 30 years as the Financial Secretary of the Council. In addition, Orest served as Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus D`Arcy McGee Assembly. He also spent decades volunteering as co-head the Knights of Columbus Bingo in support of the Blackstrap Youth Camp in Saskatchewan. <br><br>Even though Orest was not feeling well in his final weeks he wanted nothing more than to be in Calgary with his family. Orest will be missed by all. <br><br>Orest is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vi (Sass); beloved son Jason and his wife Sherry (Parchewski); precious grandchildren whom he loved so much; his ``hlopcheks``, Owen & Colton and his “sweetie” Natalia. Orest also leaves behind his brother, Michael (Mary) Zabinsky; sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Cisaroski; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. <br><br>Orest was predeceased by his parents Nikola and Anastasia (Koshlay) Zabinsky; brother Johnny and his wife Helen. <br><br>Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and tributes at St. Stephen Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church (4903 – 45 Street SW, Calgary) on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 7:00 pm, with Rev. Mark A. Bayrock, Celebrant. Funeral MassDivine Liturgy will be celebrated at the Saints Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church (1202 11th St E, Saskatoon) on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:30 am, with Rev.F Fr.ather Michael Smolinski and Father Rev. Fr.
