<div itemprop="description">Stephania (Steffie) Kwasnitza (Novak), 82, peacefully passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, in Saskatoon. <br><br>She was born on October 17, 1933 to Maria (Musyj) and Michael Novak. She was raised in Model Farm District. She was educated at Sacred Heart School in Yorkton and received her training to become a nurse at St. Paul’s Grey Nuns Hospital in Saskatoon. Steffie married Stanley Kwasnitza on October 31, 1959 in Ituna. There, they farmed together and raised their daughter Joan. In Ituna, Steffie pursued her professional passion as a nurse at the Pioneer Lodge until her retirement. After the passing of her husband she moved to Saskatoon. <br><br>She is predeceased by her husband Stanley, parents Maria and Michael, and siblings Anne, Julia, William, Joseph, Walter, Andrew, Stella, Michael, and stepbrothers Merle, Mike, Joe, and Emil. <br><br>Her surviving siblings include Olga, Dennis, and Jerry. <br><br>She is also survived by her daughter Joan and Brian Thomson, Grandchildren Julia and Abu (Great-Granddaughter Jaya) Okonofua, Luke Thomson, and Jesse Thomson. <br><br>Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon. Divine Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, Main Street North, Ituna, SK. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. <br><br>Our family thanks Dr. J. Yelland, The Ukrainian Sisters of St. Joseph, Fr. Gregory Hrynkiw ASTH, and the Staff at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home for their loving care of mom.
