<div itemprop="description">Born: August 17, 1925; Okla, SK<br>Passed Away: May 22, 2016; Saskatoon, SK<br><br>It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vera Bashforth at the Palliative Care Unit of St. Paul’s Hospital on May 22, 2016 at the age of 90.<br><br>Vera was born on the family farm located northeast of Okla, SK on August 17, 1925 to Leonard and Florrie Ricketts. She attended Turnout School in Okla, SK. On March 14, 1946 Vera married Art Bashforth and they made their home in Saskatoon. In addition to raising her children Vera spent many years working as a seamstress. Vera had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening; she took great pride in seeing the thousands of blooms that adorned the yard. During her retirement years she enjoyed golfing, bowling and Sunday morning coffee with family and friends.<br><br>Vera was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Florrie Ricketts, her brother Herbert and her husband of 58 years, Art.<br><br>Vera is survived by: her sister Mable; daughter Donna (Wally); son Tim (Leslie); grandchildren Scott (Cecilia) and Dean; great grandchildren Jessica, Savahnna, Samantha and Matthew; many nieces and nephews.<br><br>The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Surgery 5B and Palliative Care Units of St. Paul’s hospital for the care and compassion they provided to Vera and her family.<br><br>A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK. A private interment of Vera’s cremated remains will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. <br><br>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vera’s honor to the Canadian Cancer Society, 101 – 440 Second Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2C3.
