<div itemprop="description">EVENSON, Verona Phyllis <br />March 3, 1918 - December 30, 2013 <br /> <br />Verona Evenson (nee Schinold) age 95, of Saskatoon, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at St Paul&rsquo;s Hospital on Monday, December 30th, 2013. <br /> <br />Verona was predeceased by her father George, mother Elizabeth, brothers Wendel and Joe, and sisters Irene, Georgie, Margaret, Lauretta and Grace. She is survived by her sons Arthur (Shirley) and Brian, three grandchildren- Tammy, Laura and Josie, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and families. <br /> <br />Verona was born on her parents homestead near Grainland, SK. She attended Reaken rural school, high school in Elbow, SK, and Teachers Normal School in Moose Jaw, SK. She went on to obtain a degree in education and a diploma in Counselling at the U of S. Verona taught at various rural schools including Shell Lake, Alsask, and Whale Cove, NWT. She retired in 1976 and took up residence in Saskatoon where she became a member of the CWL and worked as a volunteer at the YWCA and St. Paul&rsquo;s Cathedral. Verona was the matriarch of our family and will be greatly missed. <br /> <br />In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Chapel at St. Ann&rsquo;s Senior Citizens Village (2910 Louise Street) on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 am.
