<div itemprop="description"><br>It is with great sadness that we announce the falling asleep in the Lord of Very Rev. Archpriest Alex Hupka, on February 1, 2017 at the age of 96 years. <br><br>Father Alex is survived by his son George Hupka, sister-in-law Lessia Slipchuk, and brother-in-law George Tkachyk (Vera), and nieces and nephews Dorianne Martyniuk (Peter), Michael Slipchuk, Laurie Landro (Jeff), Dan Tkachyk (Ann) and Robbie Tkachyk, and grand-nieces Melia Martyniuk and Tiana Martyniuk. <br><br>He was predeceased by his father George, mother Mary (Gawrylitza), brother Nick, and his beloved wife and Dobrodiyka Mary (Tkaczyk). <br><br>Father Alex served the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as parish priest in Ituna SK, Saskatoon (All Saints), Scarborough ON (St. Anne’s), Regina, Edmonton (St. Anthony’s), Calmar and Thorsby AB, before retiring in Saskatoon. <br><br>Services will be held at All Saints Ukrainian Orthodox Parish, 2616 Louise Street, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Monday, February 6th at 7:00 PM. Very Rev. Archpriest Taras Udod officiating. <br><br>The Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 10611-110 Ave. Edmonton, Alberta, on Wednesday, February 8th at 9:30 AM. His Grace, Rt. Rev. Bishop Ilarion officiating.
