<div itemprop="description">Annie Derkach <br>January 26, 1926 - February 20, 2017 <br> <br> <br>Annie Derkach, age 91 years died peacefully at St. Joseph’s home on Monday, February 20, 2017 with her family by her side. <br> <br>Born January 27, 1926 on the family farm in Sheho, SK. Annie was the eldest child of Frank and Mary (Gulka) Pihowich. Annie attended the Deer Creek School in Sheho, SK and in 1943 the family moved to a farm near Nipawin, SK. On November 4, 1945 Annie married James Derkach and farmed in the Nipawin area. Annie and James moved to Saskatoon in 1954. In 1963 Annie began working at The Bay in the food services department where she retired 22 years later. <br> <br>Predeceased by her husband James in 2010 and her parents Frank and Mary (Gulka) Pihowich; sisters Nellie (Steve) Zadorozny, Rose (Ladmer) Kozun, Adella (Eugene) Hrapchak; nephews Kenneth Hrapchak, Lloyd Hrapchak, and Gordon Mazurkewich; and niece Rosemary Zazulak. <br> <br>Annie became a devoted member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in 1960 and was a strong member of the Ukrainian Women’s League. Annie was the Corresponding Secretary for 28 years on the Local, Eparchial and National Executives. <br> <br>Annie loved to cook, read, garden and everything else that made a happy home. Annie especially loved having family stop for a visit whenever they could. <br> <br>She is survived by her two sons Zenon and Bobbie; brother Bill (Mary) Pihowich; and sisters Natalie (Carl) Zazulak, Olga Mazurkewich, and Molly (Victor) Garchinski; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. <br> <br>The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of St. Joseph’s Home for their kind and compassionate care of Annie. <br> <br>In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Home, 33 Valens Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7L 3S2. <br> <br>Prayers will be held at Park Funeral Home, 311 Third Avenue North on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. and Divine Liturgy at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1202 11th Street East on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Michael Smolinski as celebrant.
