<div itemprop="description">VERMEULEN, Anton (Tony) <br /> <br />It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our Dad, Tony Vermeulen on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at his residence Sherbrooke Community Centre, Veterans Village. <br /> <br />This past November he celebrated his 90th birthday. Dad was born in Geffen, Holland on November 2, 1922. He arrived in Canada at the age of 6, and grew up in the community of Vanscoy. He was enlisted in WWII at the age of 18, with the Royal Canadian Engineers. Returning home when the war ended and marrying his childhood sweetheart Belva Haanan in November 1945. He farmed of ten years and then had a successful thirty year career with the United Grain Growers (UGG). He retired at the age of sixty-three in Montgomery Place in Saskatoon to enjoy his retirement and grandchildren. <br /> <br />He was predeceased by his loving wife, Belva in November 2005. He is loved and remembered by: Daughter, Wendy (Vern) Evers of Saskatoon, SK with children, Cam (Kelsey) Evers, great-grandchildren, Jayce and Jordy and child Karen (Kweku) Johnson, great-grandson, Keanan; Daughter, Trudy (Danny) Germain of Lethbridge, AB with children Casey and Carlie; Son, Rick (Trisha) Vermeulen of Dartmouth, NS with children, Lynne and Laura; Son, Skip (Bev) Vermeulen of Saskatoon, SK with children, Amber (Terry) Fusco, great grandchildren, Lucas and Eli, and children, Amy, Steven and Lee; Daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Abel of Saskatoon, SK with children, Tina and Lisa and great grandson, Hunter. Also survived by sister, Audrey Haidenger; sister-in-law, Dorothy Topham; plus numerous nieces and nephews; as well as very good friends, Russ and Barb Snow. <br /> <br />Vigil for Tony will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be held at St. John Bosco Roman Catholic Church, 1202 Avenue O South, Saskatoon, SK.
