<div itemprop="description">Charles Frederick &ldquo;Fred&rdquo; Ashley<br />April 9, 1946 &ndash; October 23, 2014<br /><br />Charles Frederick &ldquo;Fred&rdquo; Ashley passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2014 in his home at the age of 68 years. <br /><br />Fred, beloved son of Eileen Louisa Rolfe (nee Pharoah); proud father and grandfather of son Kevin (Adrienne) and grandchildren Madison, Keagan, Erica and Spencer; son Sean (Tara) and grandchildren Chloe and Ava; daughter Kelly (Serge) Marchildon grandchild Jean-Luc. <br /><br />Fred was predeceased by his father, Goldie Sperry Ashley on October 31, 1958 and stepfather, Stewart Henry Rolfe. <br /><br />Fred was born at St. Catherines General Hospital on April 9, 1946. He graduated from the University of Waterloo with BASC in Mechanical Engineering in May of 1970. After completing Co-operative Engineering Degree Program, in which he worked his way through school, through work terms. Fred moved to Elliot Lake, Ontario from June 1971 until June 1991. He brought up his family there and enjoyed outdoor activities and sports with his kids. He worked in a number of high stress positions, such as Environmental Engineer, Senior Environmental Engineer, Project Engineer, Construction Engineer, Commissioning Engineer, and Industrial Hygiene Supervisor. He also worked for the Atomic Energy Control Board and later Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and won many awards, including President&rsquo;s Award for life-time achievement in 2011. He retired on March 30, 2012. <br /><br />He loved his participation in community sports with his kids, and with the Kinsmen Club. <br /><br />The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 Third Avenue North, Saskatoon, SK.
