<div itemprop="description">John Wilbert ‘Jack’ Afseth<br>October 22, 1929 – February 21, 2017<br><br>The passing of John Wilbert ‘Jack’ Afseth occurred on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Home. <br><br>Jack was born in Saskatoon on October 22, 1929. He attended Nelson Rural School in the RM of Vanscoy and then attended Tech Collegiate. He started his work career at Lonestar Auto Electric, then joined Canada Post in the mid-fifties where he worked till 1985. During his entire life he farmed on the family farm in the Asquith District. Jack married Verna Saretsky on June 12, 1954 and they lived in Saskatoon, Verna passing away on September 7, 1992. Jack then married Margaret Schiminovsky, a long-time family friend and Jack gained an extended family of Marg’s. Jack enjoyed curling with the Post Office Curling Team, he was a member of St. Martin’s United Church and gave freely of his resources to various charities. <br><br>Surviving are: his son Garnet (Sharon) Afseth and their children Amber Afseth (David Sarfati) and Lyndsay Afseth; his daughter Glenda (John) Bennett; three brothers Don (Helen), Bob (Marg) and Bill (Sharon); sister-in-law Margaret Afseth and several nieces and nephews. <br><br>Jack was predeceased by his 1st wife Verna, his 2nd wife Margaret and by his brother Wesley. <br><br>Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer and Related Diseases, Saskatoon Chapter, 1405 Faulkner Crescent, Saskatoon, SK S7L 3R5 or Parkinson Disease Movement Disorder Program, Rajput Research RUHF, Royal University Hospital Foundation, 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W8.
