Loretta Lorraine Zarubiak (Kohut)
November 10, 1939 - June 9, 2016
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Baba, Loretta, at Royal University Hospital on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at the age of 76 years.
Loretta is survived by her four children: John (Marion) of Grimshaw, AB, Kevin (Karene) and their children Tristyn and Jayda of Red Deer, AB, Adeline (Todd) Michayluk and their children Ethan and Nevia of Regina, SK, and Myrna of Saskatoon, SK; her siblings: Iris (John) Swystun, Lawrence (Irene) Kohut, Gordon (Pat) Kohut, Eugenia (Peter) Prystupa, Lorna (Bryan) Gaudreau, Bernie (Jim) Maines; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene (1992); and her parents, George and Dora (Kulchycki) Kohut; and mother in law, Frances Zarubiak.
Loretta was born in Hafford, SK. She took her schooling in Roseberry/Hafford before attending Saskatoon Business College. On October 11, 1969 Loretta married Eugene Zarubiak and they lived in Saskatoon. She worked at a law office until staying home to raise their children. She was a volunteer and driver for her children’s many activities. Loretta enjoyed gardening, pickling, canning and cooking. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and always had time for her beloved furry friend Newman.
The family extends a special thank you to the caring doctors and staff of the CCU at Royal University Hospital.
Prayers for Loretta will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1202 - 11th Street East, Saskatoon. Interment in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 26 - 1738 Quebec Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
