<div itemprop="description"><br>Lydia Novak was born on July 27, 1928 in Margo Saskatchewan to Julius and Anna Markowski. She had five siblings; Martha (Arnold), Wanda (Leonard), John (Thelma), Alex, and Otto (Marilyn). Lydia was the first child born in Canada and spent her childhood on the farm in Margo, Saskatchewan. <br><br>Lydia passed away in Saskatoon on November 4, 2016 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband Paul, her parents; Anna and Julius, her son Randy, her sister Martha Young and brother John Markowski. <br><br>Lydia is survived by her sons Ken (Elaine), Kelly (Lois), Darwin (Talleen). Her grandchildren Chris (Yvonne), Lisa, Walker, Piper and great grandchildren Kayin and Lia. <br> <br>Lydia moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in search of work where she reconnected with Paul Novak who grew up in the Lintlaw area. They were married December 9, 1950. Lydia and Paul lived in Winnipeg where Lydia worked numerous jobs. Three sons; Ken, Randy and Kelly were born in Winnipeg. The family moved back to the farm in Lintlaw, SK. where Darwin was born. Lydia continued to work alongside Paul on the farm for 26 years, while raising her four boys. They remained on the farm until 1987 when they retired to Summerland, BC. <br><br>While in the Okanagan Lydia and Paul spent endless hours, camping, fishing, gardening, tending to their roses and yard. Lydia moved back to Saskatoon to be closer to her sons when Paul passed away in 2007. <br><br>Lydia moved into a retirement community in Saskatoon and very much enjoyed visiting with other residents. She loved going to the farm for visits with family. Spending time at the lake camping and going for boat rides with her kids and grandkids. Lydia could always be found with a stash of chocolate hiding in the bottom of her purse. She will be missed by all who knew her. We have many fond memories - we will miss you Mom! <br><br>Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Park Funeral Chapel, 311 3rd Ave N, Saskatoon.
