<div itemprop="description">Melvin Morenzes Lofstrom <br>August 4, 1935-January 22, 2017 <br> <br>It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Melvin Morenzes Lofstrom, age 81. Mel passed away peacefully Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Sherbrooke Community Centre. He was born on August 4, 1935 to Ruth and August Lofstrom, in Canwood, SK. <br> <br>Mel is lovingly remembered by his wife of 31 years, Pam Blankenship, his three daughters; Karin Lofstrom (Guylaine Bernier) of Ottawa, Sharon Gilbert (Wayne) of Kimberley, BC, and Pat Rogal (Paul) of Saskatoon; four grandchildren; Emily and Mitchell Rogal and Aidan and Maggie Gilbert; two siblings, Terry Lofstrom (Marilyn) and Eleanor Person, of Canwood, SK; several nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins, as well as his lifelong friend Earle Newton. <br> <br>Mel was predeceased by his parents, brothers Wally, Kermit and Stanley, and his brother-in-law Ronald Person. <br> <br>He enjoyed a long and successful career in education from teacher in a one room schoolhouse, to principal, to General Secretary of the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation, and finally Superintendent in Humboldt. <br> <br>When he officially retired he rediscovered his artistic talents and developed a passion for woodturning during his ten years in Virginia. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing at Candle Lake and spending time with his dogs. <br> <br>The family would especially like to thank the staff at Sherbrooke Community Centre for the phenomenal care and love they showed to Mel. <br> <br>A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Home (311 Third Avenue North). <br> <br>Donations can be made in Mel’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Sask. or to Sherbrooke Community Centre. <br> <br>To share condolences and memories, visit www.parkfuneral.ca ``Obituaries-Contribute``.
