Muriel worked at the Broderick Hall, Sask Wheat Pool Service Center, Barrich Farms, Lake Diefenbaker Fish Farm and Raylen Motel. In 1975 Muriel started at the Outlook Civic Centre as janitor, while holding down several other jobs. In 1989 her spouse of 24 years Lloyd Ivan passed away from a yearlong battle with lung cancer. Muriel continued working at the Civic Centre until she retired in 1998 at the age of 60 years. Muriel enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and baking. In her retirement Muriel enjoyed spending time with her family, and would enjoy baking, making cookies and spending time with her eight grandchildren.

Until her passing Muriel resided in Broderick and will be cherished by son William Ivan and wife Annette and their children Joshua, Thomas, Drew, Tessa, Davin, and Brandt of Outlook, Saskatchewan; son Jeffrey Ivan, wife Britt and children Alyssa and Alex of Okotoks, Alberta.
