Darrell Adam Belyk
1955 - 2015

Darrell passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the age of 59 years.

Darrell was born in Hafford, Saskatchewan on August 1, 1955 and grew up on a farm near Hafford with his brother, mother, Baba and Gedo. He spent his first years at Hafford School and later moved to Saskatoon and attended Princess Alexandra, Holliston and Walter Murray schools. He also received his B.Sc. at the University of Saskatchewan. During his youth Darrell worked at Jubilee Ford, Revelstoke Construction and the family business Nutana Bakery. Later moving to Vancouver, Darrell was highly successful in Pharmaceuticals working for Boehringer Ingelheim. Most recently he was working in the media industry with Qwickmedia Inc. Darrell was a fantastic athlete participating in various sports including Ukrainian Dancing while he was a child, speed skating, hockey, sky diving, wind surfing, waterskiing and many others. He also had his pilot’s license and took family and friends flying. We would regularly ask “can you really fly this thing?” He would reply “yup!” and always return us home safely. Darrell was very proud of his sons. He encouraged his boys to excel in school and participate in sports. Throughout the years he coached his sons’ baseball and soccer teams and spent many summers teaching his sons to waterski at the family cabin. We will also miss our late night Kaiser games. Darrell had a wonderful and witty sense of humour and will be deeply missed.

Darrell is predeceased by his son, Nicholas Alexander and his loving and caring grandparents, Kate and Alex Kotelko.

He is survived by his two sons, Kevin and Jeremy; his mother, Vera; his stepfather, Edwin; his two brothers, Malcolm and Brennan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Your memory in our hearts we will eternally keep.

The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints, 2616 Louise Street, Saskatoon, officiated by Very Rev.
