Maximilian Timothy Pedersen
October 25, 1998 - March 8, 2015
Maximilian Timothy Askiy Pedersen
October 25, 1998 – March 8, 2015
It is with profound sadness that the family of Maximilian (Max) Timothy Askiy Pedersen announce his passing on March 8, 2015. Max was born on to Jill Ann Cowan (Lester) and Joel Pedersen on October 25, 1998.
Max is survived by his loving family – Mother, Jill (Brian Cowan) and Father, Joel (Kim Clayton and her daughter, Keyra); his brother, Zachary; his sister, Neave-Marie; and Joel’s daughter, Alexis (and her son Mason); Grandparents, Tim and Wendy Lester; Great Grandmother, Elsie Lester; maternal Uncles and Aunt, Chris and Jennifer Lester, Shane Lester and Ben Lester; and cousin, Sydney Lester; extended family, Anne and David Cowan, and Mairi Cowan.
Grandparents, Connie and (late) Keith Sampson, Rolf and Carol Pedersen, Flo & Ken L'Hirondelle, Sonny Lepine and Janet Holmgren. Paternal aunts and uncles, Paula Pedersen and Martin Letarte, Robert Sampson and Tiffany Scowan, Mike Sampson, Curtis and Yuen L'Hirondelle; cousins, Xavier and Marc Pedersen-Letarte, Owen and Vanessa Sampson, Owen and Jacob L'Hirondelle. Max is also remembered by numerous teammates and friends including his special friend, Brooke Asmundson.
Max attended Centennial Collegiate and was in Grade 10. He was an advanced art student, member of the soccer academy and of the junior football team. Max was loved and cared for by more people than he will ever know. He always thought of others before himself, enjoyed new challenges and bringing the best out in people. Max was a talented artist in both music and drawing. He had recently taught himself to play the guitar and was composing his own music.
Max was a proud brother – he was Neave-Marie’s number one fan at each of her dance recitals and was Zach’s best friend always there for him. Many years were spent in the waters of Crystal Lake with family and we have many memories of his need to make the biggest splash or starting an epic water fight with anyone within a squirt guns reach.
Max enjoyed playing video games with his friends and was very patient in teaching his dad how to play. Max wanted to be a role model with youth and directly with aboriginal youth. He ran twice in ultra-distance runs from Saskatoon to Batoche, with the first time being at the young age of 10 and last one this past summer, where his efforts helped to raise national awareness and financial support for the Métis Veterans of Canada. This accomplishment brought him a great sense of honour and pride.
Max will be deeply missed by all who called him a friend and the lives he touched are immensurable he will live in our hearts forever.
The Vigil for Maximilian will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Both services will be held at the Cathedral of The Holy Family (123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon) with celebrant Rev. Fr. David Tumback and Pastor Jim Hallmarson. Rite of Committal will follow in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery.
