<div itemprop="description">RUBEN ARTHUR RUMPEL <br /> <br />Ruben passed away on Thursday December 12, 2013. Ruben will be remembered by his son Rick (Karin) of Germany and his children Ronda, Tiffaney, Amber (Mike Cleveland), Jhir-ett (Jenn Spark); son David (Anica) and his children Adam and Abby. Also survived by his step-daughter Donna (Bob) Laing and their children Heather (Scott Slywchuk), Ian (Natasha); daughter in law Karin Sipko and her sons Jon, and Matt (Jennifer); numerous great grandchildren, niece, nephews and extended family. <br /> <br />Ruben was predeceased by his first wife Alma (Tiefenbach) in 1973 and by Marge (Sipko) in 2006; step-son Bud Sipko; grandson Philip Rumpel; parents Christian and Ida(Schlievert); siblings and their spouses; Martha (Carl) Hollerbaum, Ella Warkentine, Edwin (Edna) and Herbert (Hilda). <br /> <br />Ruben was born March 15, 1923 on the family farm near Edenwold. He was the youngest of five children. After completing school and working at several jobs he worked at Regina General Hospital as an Orderly. Ruben was stricken with polio in 1947 and after a long convalescence joined the work force and tried several occupations. He married Alma in October of 1948. In 1951 he started a long career in the Public Service, starting with the Department of National Defense, then transferred to the Department of Veteran&rsquo;s Affairs in 1962. Ruben transferred to Saskatoon in 1969 with the DVA and shortly after Alma passed away after a long battle with cancer. He met Marge and remarried in 1975. He then accepted another transfer to the Canada Pension Commission until his retirement in 1985. In his retirement Ruben kept very active. He was a regular at the Wildwood Golf Course in the summer, and he was always tinkering in his workshop making gifts for family and friends. He was a very social person enjoyed playing cards, telling jokes and stories. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man. <br /> <br />It was Dad&rsquo;s wishes not have a service. <br /> <br />We would like to thank the staff at Central Haven Nursing home for the care and compassion they provided Dad over the past several months. <br /> <br />In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of choice. <br /> <br />May you rest in the arms of the Lord. <br /> <br />To send online condolences, visit www.parkfuneral.ca &ldquo;Obituaries &amp; Tributes&rdquo;.
